From downtown Portland, head to the Portland Transportation Center (located at 100 Thompson's Point Road). Take the Metro bus #1 (the 'Portland to Falmouth' route). The bus runs frequently, approximately every 30 minutes. Make sure to check the schedule for specific times. Stay on the bus for about 20 minutes, and get off at the Falmouth Shopping Center stop (a well-known landmark).
Walking
After getting off the bus at the Falmouth Shopping Center, head northwest toward Route 1. Cross Route 1 and continue straight onto Falmouth Road. Walk for about half a mile until you reach the intersection with Greely Road. Turn left onto Greely Road and follow it for another mile. As you walk, you will see signs for the Presumpscot River Preserve. Eventually, you will reach the entrance to the preserve, where you can access the trails leading to Presumpscot Falls.
Biking
If you prefer biking, you can rent a bike from one of the rental shops in downtown Portland. After picking up your bike, head towards the Back Cove Trail, which connects to roads leading to Falmouth. Follow the trail until you reach the Falmouth area. From there, use the directions provided for walking to get to Presumpscot Falls. The bike ride will take approximately 30-45 minutes depending on your pace.
