Getting There

• Public Transit

  From Saco, head to the nearest bus stop and take the Metro Bus Route 1 towards Portland. Ensure you board the bus at the Saco Transportation Center. Stay on the bus for approximately 20 minutes until you reach the Portland City Hall stop. Once you disembark, walk south on Congress Street for two blocks until you reach Monument Square. The Henry Wadsworth Longfellow Monument is located in the square.

• Walking

  If you prefer to walk, you can head towards the Saco Riverwalk and follow the river north. Continue along the river until you reach the bridge that leads into Biddeford. Cross the bridge and follow the path leading into Portland. This walk will take you approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes. Once in Portland, head towards the downtown area and look for Monument Square where the Longfellow Monument is located.

• Bicycle

  For those who wish to ride a bike, you can rent one from a local bike rental shop in Saco. Start by heading north on Main Street until you reach the Saco Riverwalk. Follow the river northward, and then take the bike path across the bridge into Biddeford. Continue following the path that leads to Portland. Once in Portland, navigate towards Monument Square where the Henry Wadsworth Longfellow Monument is located. The bike ride will take approximately 30-45 minutes.
