To reach Acadia National Park from various locations in Washington County, begin by locating Route 1. If you're in Machias, head north on Main St, then turn left onto Route 1. Follow Route 1 north for about 30 miles until you reach Ellsworth. In Ellsworth, take Route 3 east, which will lead you directly to the park entrance. The drive should take approximately 1 hour, depending on traffic. Make sure to check for any road construction or detours along Route 1 and Route 3.

Public transportation options to Acadia National Park are limited. However, you can take a bus from Machias to Ellsworth operated by Downeast Transportation. Once in Ellsworth, you will need to arrange for a taxi or rideshare service to take you the remaining 12 miles to the park entrance on Route 3. Be sure to check the bus schedule in advance and allow for extra time to make your connections.
