Getting There

Car
If you are driving, start by heading towards Acadia National Park. From Bar Harbor, take Route 3 south towards Mount Desert. Once you reach the entrance to Acadia National Park, pay the entrance fee (approximately $30 for a vehicle, valid for 7 days). After entering the park, follow Park Loop Road and look for the signs leading to the Jordan Pond area. Park your vehicle at the Jordan Pond parking area.

Hiking
From the Jordan Pond parking area, look for the Sargent Mountain Trailhead. The trail begins near the Jordan Pond house. Follow the Sargent Mountain Trail, which is approximately 3.5 miles to the summit of Sargent Peak. The hike is moderately difficult, so wear appropriate hiking shoes and bring water and snacks. The trail provides beautiful views of the surrounding area.

If you are using public transportation, take the Island Explorer bus service. Board the bus at any designated stop in Bar Harbor or surrounding areas.
