Car
From any location in Washington County, head towards Route 1. If you're coming from Machias, take Route 1 North. If you're coming from Eastport, take Route 190 to Route 1 South. Follow Route 1 to the town of Gouldsboro, then take a left onto Route 186 towards Winter Harbor. Continue on Route 186 until you reach Winter Harbor. Once in Winter Harbor, turn left onto Atterbury Circle. Schoodic Institute will be on your left at 9 Atterbury Cir, Winter Harbor, ME 04693.
Public Transportation
There is limited public transportation available in Washington County. However, you can take a bus from Machias to Bar Harbor using Downeast Transportation. From Bar Harbor, there are taxi services available to get you to Winter Harbor. You will need to arrange for a taxi in advance, as they may not be readily available. Ensure you check the bus schedules and plan your trip accordingly, as service may be infrequent.
Bicycle
If you are feeling adventurous, you can bike to Schoodic Institute. Take Route 1 to Route 186, and follow the same directions as if you were driving. Ensure to wear a helmet and follow all safety regulations. The ride can be scenic, but be prepared for some hilly terrain as you approach Winter Harbor.
