Turn onto Route 186 and follow it for about 6 miles until you arrive in Winter Harbor. As you enter Winter Harbor, look for signs directing you to Schoodic Loop Road. Turn left onto Schoodic Loop Road, and you will reach the Winter Harbor Light within a couple of minutes. There is no entry fee for visiting the lighthouse.
Public Transportation
If you're relying on public transportation, start by taking a bus from your location in Washington County to Bar Harbor. Once in Bar Harbor, you will need to take a taxi or a rideshare service to Winter Harbor, as public transport options directly to Winter Harbor may be limited. Inform your driver to take you to Schoodic Loop Road in Winter Harbor. The taxi fare may vary, but expect to pay around $30-50 for this trip, depending on demand and distance.
Bicycle
For the adventurous, consider cycling to Winter Harbor Light. Starting from any point in Washington County, make your way towards Route 1, then follow the same directions as for car travel. Please ensure you have a suitable bike and safety gear, as parts of Route 1 can be busy with traffic. The ride will take longer, so plan accordingly. Bring water and snacks for the journey.
