Getting there

Car

If you are traveling by car from any location around Lake Malawi, first ensure you have a reliable map or GPS device. Start your journey by heading towards the nearest major town, such as Mangochi or Zomba. From Zomba, take the A16 road heading towards Dedza. Continue on the A16 until you reach the junction for the B401 road, which leads directly to Dedza. Follow the B401 until you see signs for Dedza Mountain. The drive should take approximately 2-3 hours depending on traffic and weather conditions.

Public Transportation (Minibus)

To reach Dedza Mountain using public transportation, you can catch a minibus from major towns like Mangochi or Zomba. Look for buses heading towards Dedza or Lilongwe. When you board, inform the driver that you want to get off at Dedza Mountain. The journey may take about 3-4 hours. Once you arrive in Dedza, you can hire a local taxi or walk to the mountain, which is relatively close to the town center.

Taxi

If you prefer a more direct route, you can hire a taxi from Dedza town to Dedza Mountain. Make sure to negotiate the fare before starting your journey; fares may vary but expect to pay around 5000-10000 MWK (Malawi Kwacha). The drive to the mountain should take about 20-30 minutes.

Walking
