Getting There

Car
If you are traveling by car, start from the town of Mulanje. Head south on the M1 highway towards Blantyre. After approximately 20 kilometers, look for the sign for Michiru Mountain on your left. Turn onto the gravel road leading to the mountain. Follow this road for about 5 kilometers until you reach the entrance to Michiru Mountain. There is usually a small entrance fee of around 1,000 MWK (Malawi Kwacha) per person.

Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, take a minibus from Mulanje to Blantyre. The minibuses leave from the main bus station in Mulanje and cost about 1,500 MWK. Inform the driver that you want to stop at the Michiru Mountain entrance. The journey should take around 30-40 minutes. Once you arrive at the Michiru Mountain entrance, you may need to walk the last 5 kilometers or hire a local guide or taxi to take you to the base of the mountain.

If you prefer to hike, after reaching the entrance of Michiru Mountain by car or public transport, you can begin your trek. The walking trail to the peak is well-marked and takes approximately 2-3 hours depending on your fitness level.
