Getting There

Car
If you're driving to the Mulanje Mountains, start your journey from Blantyre. Take the A6 road heading south towards Mulanje. The drive takes approximately 1.5 hours. Once you reach Mulanje town, follow the signs to the Mulanje Mountain Conservation Area. You will need to pay a conservation fee at the entrance, which is around 5,000 MWK (Malawian Kwacha) per person. After entering, you can park your vehicle at designated areas near the trailheads.

Public Transportation (Minibus)
From Blantyre, take a minibus to Mulanje. These minibuses leave from the main bus depot in Blantyre and typically cost around 1,500 MWK per person. The journey takes about 1.5 to 2 hours. Once you arrive in Mulanje town, you can either walk or take a bicycle taxi (locally known as 'kaya') to the entrance of the Mulanje Mountain Conservation Area. Bicycle taxis usually charge around 1,000 MWK for a short ride. Upon reaching the conservation area, you'll need to pay the conservation fee of about 5,000 MWK.

If you're already in Mulanje town and prefer to walk to the Mulanje Mountain Conservation Area, it's about a 4 km (approximately 1 hour) walk. Head southeast on the main road from the town center, following the signs toward the conservation area. This can be a pleasant walk, offering views of the surrounding landscape. Remember, you will still need to pay the conservation fee upon arrival.
