Getting There

• Car

  If you're traveling by car, start your journey from Blantyre, which is about 60 km away from Kapichira Falls. Head south on the A1 road towards Zomba. After about 30 km, turn left onto the M1 road towards Mwanza. Continue on the M1 for approximately 20 km, then take a right onto the road marked for Kapichira Falls. Follow this road for about 10 km until you reach the falls. There may be a small entry fee for accessing the falls, typically around 1,000 MWK.

• Public Transport (Minibus)

  For those using public transportation, take a minibus from Blantyre to Chikwawa. These minibuses depart frequently from the local bus station. Once you arrive in Chikwawa, you will need to take another minibus heading towards Kapichira Falls. Ensure to ask the driver to drop you off at the entrance to the falls. The total cost for this journey can range from 2,000 MWK to 5,000 MWK depending on the distance and the service you choose. Be prepared for a short walk from the drop-off point to the falls.

• Bicycle

  If you're feeling adventurous and have access to a bicycle, you can ride from Blantyre to Kapichira Falls. The journey will take you through scenic landscapes and local villages. Follow the same route as you would by car, taking the A1 road south, then the M1 to Kapichira. Ensure you have sufficient supplies, as there are limited stops along the way. This ride is approximately 60 km and will take several hours depending on your cycling speed.

• Walking

  For the more adventurous travelers, walking to Kapichira Falls is an option if you are already in close proximity. From Maganga, head west towards the falls, following local paths. This trek can be challenging and may take several hours, so it is advisable only for those who are experienced and well-prepared. Always ask locals for the safest and best routes. Carry water and snacks, as this will be a longer journey.
