Getting there

Car

If you are driving from within Majete Wildlife Reserve, start by leaving the park through the main entrance. Head north on the main road until you reach the junction with the A9 road. Turn left onto the A9 and continue for about 30 kilometers. Look for signs indicating the direction to Blantyre. After approximately 15 kilometers, you will see a turnoff for Lisungwi. Follow the signs, and after about 5 kilometers, you will reach Lisungwi Bridge. Ensure you have a map or GPS, as some local signage may not be clear.

Public Transportation

From Majete Wildlife Reserve, you can take a local minibus heading towards Blantyre. Once you reach the A9 road, ask the driver to drop you off at the junction for Lisungwi. The fare is generally around 1,500 MWK (Malawian Kwacha). From the junction, you may need to hire a bicycle taxi or walk approximately 5 kilometers to Lisungwi Bridge. Be sure to confirm the drop-off point with the driver.

If you are already in the area and prefer a more local experience, consider hiring a bicycle taxi from the nearest town or village to Lisungwi Bridge. Negotiate the fare beforehand, which generally ranges from 3,000 to 5,000 MWK depending on the distance and your negotiation skills.
