Getting There
Car
If you're driving, head to Old Mountain Road, which is the main road leading to Zomba Forest Lodge. From Zomba town, take the Zomba-Malosa Road (also known as the Zomba-Lilongwe Road) and follow the signs towards the Zomba Plateau. Once you reach the junction at the base of the plateau, turn onto Old Mountain Road. Continue along this road for about 7 km, and you will see the entrance to Zomba Forest Lodge on your right. There is no entrance fee, but ensure you have cash for any other purchases at the lodge.
Public Transportation
From Zomba town, you can take a taxi or a minibus to the Zomba Plateau. Look for a minibus that goes towards the plateau; they typically leave from the main bus station in Zomba. Inform the driver or conductor that you want to go to Old Mountain Road. The fare is usually around 500 MWK. Once you reach the plateau area, you may need to walk approximately 1.5 km along Old Mountain Road to reach Zomba Forest Lodge. Alternatively, you can ask the driver to drop you off as close to the lodge as possible.
Walking
If you are already on the Zomba Plateau and near Old Mountain Road, you can walk to Zomba Forest Lodge. From the nearest landmark, such as the Zomba Plateau Viewpoint, head towards Old Mountain Road. Walk along Old Mountain Road for about 1.5 km, and you will find the lodge on your left. It’s a pleasant walk with beautiful views, so take your time to enjoy the scenery.
