Walking
From the center of Zomba, head south on the main road (Chancellor Ave). Continue walking for about 1.5 kilometers until you reach the junction with the road leading to Mwala wa Mphini. Turn left onto this road. After approximately 500 meters, you will see the Chilema Tree on your right. Look for a small sign indicating the location.
Bicycle
If you prefer cycling, rent a bicycle from one of the local shops in Zomba. Start at the Zomba Central Market and cycle south along Chancellor Ave. Continue for about 1.5 kilometers until you reach the junction for Mwala wa Mphini. Turn left and cycle about 500 meters; the Chilema Tree will be on your right. Make sure to take your time and enjoy the scenic views along the way.
Public Transport (Minibus)
Catch a minibus from the Zomba bus station heading towards Mwala wa Mphini. The fare is usually very affordable. Inform the conductor that you want to get off at the stop near the Chilema Tree. Once you get off, walk about 200 meters back towards the direction you came from, and you will find the tree on your left. Be sure to check the minibus schedule as they operate at regular intervals.
