Walking
From Valletta City Gate, walk down Republic Street towards Fort St. Elmo. Continue past St. John's Co-Cathedral and the Grand Master's Palace. Follow the signs for the Upper Barrakka Gardens. Take the Barrakka Lift down to the waterfront (€1 for the ride up, free to go down). The Valletta Ferry terminal is a short walk from the base of the lift. A single ferry ticket to the Three Cities costs €2.00, and a return ticket is €3.80.
Public Transport
From the Valletta Bus Terminus, located just outside the City Gate, take any bus that stops near the Upper Barrakka Gardens. From there, take the Barrakka Lift (€1 for the ride up, free to go down) to the waterfront and walk to the Valletta Ferry terminal. Alternatively, take the circular Route 133, which connects the Valletta Ferry quays with the city center. A single bus ticket costs €2.00.
Taxi
Taxis are readily available throughout Valletta. A taxi from the City Gate area to the Valletta Ferry terminal will cost approximately €10-€15, depending on traffic. The journey takes around 5-10 minutes. Ask the driver to drop you off near the Barrakka Lift for easy access to the ferry.
