Gozo Aqueduct Travel Guide

The Gozo Aqueduct, located near Kerċem, is a remarkable relic of British engineering on the island of Gozo. Built between 1839 and 1843, it was designed to transport water from the Għar Ilma spring, meaning "Cave of Water", to the capital city of Victoria. The aqueduct served as a vital water supply for the growing population, storing water in a reservoir within the ditch of the Cittadella.Constructed of a series of stone arches, the aqueduct stretches across the Gozitan countryside, a testament to the engineering capabilities of the time.
