Start at the Upper Barracca Gardens, which is a popular viewpoint in Valletta. From the gardens, head down the steps towards the Valletta Waterfront. When you reach the bottom, turn left and walk along the waterfront promenade. Continue walking until you reach the end of the promenade. You will see the entrance to Fort St. Elmo directly ahead. Continue past the fort entrance and follow the signs for the Granaries, which are located on the grounds of the fort.

Walk straight along Republic Street until you reach the end, where it meets the blast of the fortifications. Turn left onto Fort St. Elmo Road.
