If you are traveling by car, start by getting onto US-40 W from your location in the Appalachian Plateau. Follow US-40 W for approximately 20 miles. Then, merge onto I-70 W toward Hagerstown. Continue on I-70 W for about 10 miles, then take exit 32 for MD-17 S toward Middletown. After exiting, turn right onto MD-17 S. Follow this road for about 6 miles until you reach the intersection with Zittlestown Rd. Turn left onto Zittlestown Rd, and after around half a mile, you will arrive at South Mountain State Battlefield, located at 6620 Zittlestown Rd, Middletown, MD 21769.
