Getting There

• Car

  If you're traveling by car, head towards Washington, DC. Use the I-495 (Capital Beltway) and exit onto the George Washington Parkway heading south. Follow signs for the Lincoln Memorial. Once you reach the Lincoln Memorial, turn onto 23rd Street NW. Continue on 23rd Street until you reach the intersection with Constitution Avenue NW. Turn left onto Constitution Avenue, then turn right onto 17th Street NW. The Washington Monument Grounds will be on your right at 130 17th St NW, Washington, DC 20006. Note: Parking in the area is limited and may incur costs, typically around $2 to $3 per hour in metered spaces.

• Public Transportation - Metro

  For public transportation, take the Washington Metro. If you are near a Metro station, board a train on the Blue, Orange, or Silver Line and travel to the Smithsonian station. Once you exit the station, walk towards the National Mall. Head west towards 17th Street NW. The Washington Monument Grounds will be directly ahead at 130 17th St NW, Washington, DC 20006. The Metro fare will depend on your starting point but typically ranges from $2.25 to $6.00 depending on time and distance.

• Public Transportation - Bus

  If you prefer to take a bus, check the WMATA website for routes that serve the National Mall area. The DC Circulator and Metrobus services both have stops near the Washington Monument. For example, take the DC Circulator's National Mall route and alight at the stop nearest to the Washington Monument. From there, it's just a short walk to the Washington Monument Grounds at 130 17th St NW, Washington, DC 20006. The cost to ride the DC Circulator is $1.00.
