Bus
From Laurel, head to the nearest bus stop that services the Washington, DC area. You can catch the Metrobus route B30 or the Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) bus route 201. Board the bus heading towards the New Carrollton Metro Station. Once on the bus, stay on for approximately 25 minutes until you reach the New Carrollton Metro Station. Transfer to the Orange Line towards Vienna/Fairfax-GMU and ride the train for about 30 minutes, getting off at the Smithsonian Station. From the station, exit and head towards the National Mall area. The Ellipse is directly south of the White House, a short 10-minute walk from the Smithsonian station.

Train
From Laurel, make your way to the Laurel Train Station. You can either walk if you are close by or take a local bus to the station. Board a MARC train on the Penn Line towards Washington, DC. The train ride will take approximately 30 minutes. Upon arriving at Union Station in Washington, DC, exit the train and follow the signs to the Metro. Take the Red Line towards Glenmont and transfer at Gallery Place-Chinatown to the Yellow Line towards Huntington. Get off at the L'Enfant Plaza station. From there, it’s a 15-minute walk to The Ellipse, which is located just south of the White House.
