If you are traveling by car, start by finding the nearest major road in the Patuxent River Region. If you are in Upper Marlboro, head northwest on US-301 N. Continue for about 5 miles and take the exit toward MD-4 S/Upper Marlboro. Merge onto MD-4 S and follow for approximately 3 miles. Take the exit toward MD-402 E/Fenno Rd, then turn left onto Fenno Rd. Continue straight for about 1 mile, and you will find Merkle Wildlife Sanctuary on your right at 11704 Fenno Rd, Upper Marlboro, MD 20772. Parking is available on-site.

For those using public transportation, you can take the Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) bus service. Start by finding the nearest bus stop that services the MTA routes. You can take the MTA Route 21 bus towards Upper Marlboro. After about 30 minutes, get off at the stop near the intersection of MD-4 and Fenno Rd. From there, it is a short 15-minute walk along Fenno Rd heading east until you reach Merkle Wildlife Sanctuary at 11704 Fenno Rd, Upper Marlboro, MD 20772. Be sure to check the MTA schedule for bus times, as they can vary.
