Public Bus
From Rockville, head to the Rockville Metro Station. Take the Red Line train towards Glenmont. Get off at the Shady Grove Metro Station. From there, transfer to the Ride On Bus Route 55 towards Frederick. Stay on the bus for approximately 30 minutes, and get off at the stop for Monocacy National Battlefield on Urbana Pike. Follow the signs to the visitor center, which is a short walk from the bus stop.

Bicycle
If you prefer cycling, rent a bike at a local bike rental shop in Rockville. Head northwest on the Rockville Pike (MD-355) and follow the bike lanes. After about 10 miles, turn onto MD-85 North towards Frederick. Continue for about 5 miles, and look for signs directing you to Monocacy National Battlefield. There are bike racks available at the visitor center.

Walking
Walking from Rockville to Monocacy National Battlefield is quite a distance, but if you're up for it, start at the Rockville Town Center. Walk north on MD-355 (Rockville Pike) until you reach the intersection with MD-28. From there, take MD-28 West and continue walking for about 7 miles until you reach the junction with Urbana Pike (MD-80). Head north on Urbana Pike for about 2 miles, and you will arrive at the battlefield. Please note this is a lengthy walk and may take several hours.
