Public Bus
From Barnstable, head to the nearest bus stop to catch the Peter Pan Bus Lines service heading to Hyannis. Once in Hyannis, transfer to the Nantucket Ferry at the Hyannis Harbor. The ferry ride takes about 1 hour. Upon arriving in Nantucket, follow the signs to the bus terminal and catch the NRTA (Nantucket Regional Transit Authority) Wave shuttle. Get off at the Madaket Beach stop, which is a short walk from Pensylvania Ave.
Bicycle
If you are comfortable biking, you can rent a bike in Barnstable. Cycle to Hyannis and take the ferry to Nantucket. Once on the island, head to the NRTA Wave shuttle bus stop, and take it towards Madaket Beach. This option allows you to enjoy the scenic views along the bike paths. Ensure you lock your bike at the designated bike racks near the beach.
Walking
Walking is not practical for the entire journey, but if you are already in Nantucket, you can walk to Madaket Beach from the nearest NRTA bus stop. From the Madaket Beach bus stop, walk down Madaket Road for about 15 minutes until you reach the beach entrance. Enjoy the beautiful views along the way.
