Walking
If you are in downtown Gloucester, start by heading towards Main Street and walk towards the waterfront. Continue along the waterfront until you reach the intersection with Western Avenue. Turn right on Western Avenue and keep walking straight. After about 0.5 miles, you will reach the bus stop for the Cape Ann Transportation Authority (CATA) buses. Take the CATA bus heading towards Manchester or Beverly. Get off at the stop closest to the MBTA train station, which is about 1.5 miles from your location. From there, you can catch the MBTA train to North Station in Boston. Once you arrive at North Station, transfer to the Green Line and take the train towards Park Street Station. Alight at Park Street Station, and you will be just a short walk from Boston Common. Head south on Tremont Street for about 5 minutes, and you will arrive at 139 Tremont St, Boston, MA 02111.

From any location in Gloucester, make your way to the nearest bus stop for the Cape Ann Transportation Authority (CATA) bus. Board the CATA bus heading towards the MBTA train station. The ride will take approximately 20 minutes. Once you arrive at the train station, purchase a ticket for the MBTA train to North Station in Boston. The train ride will take around 30 minutes. Once at North Station, follow the signs to transfer to the Green Line subway. Board the Green Line train towards Park Street Station. After arriving at Park Street Station, exit the station and walk south on Tremont Street for about 5 minutes until you reach the Boston Common at 139 Tremont St, Boston, MA 02111.

If you prefer cycling, you can rent a bike from a local bike rental service in Gloucester. Start your ride by heading towards the waterfront and following the path along the coast. Make your way to Western Avenue and continue until you reach the CATA bus stop. From there, you can load your bike onto the CATA bus (check ahead for bike capacity). Once you arrive at the MBTA train station, disembark and take your bike with you onto the train towards North Station in Boston. After reaching North Station, cycle towards the Green Line subway entrance. Once you are at Park Street Station, navigate to Tremont Street and ride south for about 5 minutes to arrive at Boston Common at 139 Tremont St, Boston, MA 02111.
