Car
If you are driving, head towards Storrow Drive in Boston. Look for signs directing you to Storrow Drive from major routes like I-93 or I-90. Once on Storrow Drive, follow the road along the Charles River. You will see signs for the Charles River Esplanade. There is limited street parking available along Storrow Drive and nearby streets, but be mindful of parking regulations. If you opt for a parking garage, consider the Boston University Parking Garage located at 100 Bay State Road, which is a short walk to the Esplanade.
Public Transportation - Subway
If you prefer public transportation, take the MBTA subway to the 'Park Street' station on the Red Line or the 'Copley' station on the Green Line. From Park Street, transfer to the Green Line and take it to the 'Arlington' stop. Exit the station and walk to Boylston Street, then head towards the Charles River. The Esplanade is approximately a 15-minute walk from Park Street. From Copley, you can walk through the Back Bay area to reach the Esplanade in about 10 minutes.
Public Transportation - Bus
Alternatively, you can take an MBTA bus. Routes 47, 55, and 39 all have stops near the Esplanade. For example, if you are near the 'Kenmore' area, take the 47 or 55 bus toward 'Lechmere' and get off at the 'Charles River Esplanade' stop. Be sure to check the MBTA schedules for exact times and any potential fares, which are generally $2.40 for a single ride if you use a CharlieCard.
