Getting There

  • Bus

    From downtown Lowell, walk to the Lowell Transit Authority bus stop at Merrimack Street. Take the LRTA bus route 15 towards the 'Billerica Transfer Station'. Ride for approximately 20 minutes and get off at the 'Billerica Transfer Station'. Here, transfer to the MBTA commuter rail towards 'North Station'. Ride for about 40 minutes until you reach 'Alewife Station'. From Alewife, take the Alewife bus route towards 'Alewife Bus Terminal'. After about 15 minutes, get off at 'Harvard Square'. You will find Harvard Square at Brattle St, Cambridge, MA, just a short walk from the bus stop.

  • Train

    From Lowell Station, board the MBTA train on the Lowell Line heading towards 'North Station'. The journey takes about 35 minutes. Once you arrive at 'North Station', transfer to the Green Line subway. Take the 'C' line towards 'Braintree' or the 'D' line towards 'Government Center'. Disembark at 'Park Street' and transfer to the Red Line towards 'Alewife'. Get off at 'Harvard Square' station. From there, you can walk to Brattle St, where Harvard Square is located.

  • Bicycle

    Start from downtown Lowell and head southeast on Merrimack Street towards the bridge. Cross over the Merrimack River, and continue on the bike path that runs parallel to the river. Follow the path until you reach the intersection with Dutton Street. Turn left onto Dutton Street, which will take you through a residential area. After about 2 miles, merge onto MA-3 South. Continue for approximately 5 miles until you reach Alewife in Cambridge. From there, follow local bike paths towards Brattle St, and you will arrive at Harvard Square.

  • Walking

    If you are up for a long walk, start from downtown Lowell and head south on Merrimack Street until you reach the intersection with Dutton Street. Take a left on Dutton Street and continue straight until you hit the intersection with MA-3 South. Follow the sidewalks along the road, and after approximately 6 miles, you’ll be entering Cambridge. Continue walking towards Alewife, and once you reach Harvard Square, you will find Brattle St nearby.
