Getting There

  • Public Bus

    From Vineyard Haven, board the Martha's Vineyard Regional Transit Authority (VTA) bus heading towards Aquinnah. You will take the Route 1 bus. The bus will make several stops along the way, so make sure to stay alert. Get off at the 'Scrubby Neck' stop, which is near the entrance to Long Point Wildlife Refuge. From the bus stop, walk towards Scrubby Neck Road and follow the signs to the refuge entrance, which is a short walk away.

    If you're in Vineyard Haven, you can rent a bike from one of the local rental shops. Head south on Main Street, then take a left onto Beach Road. Continue to follow Beach Road until you reach the intersection with State Road. Turn left onto State Road and bike until you reach Scrubby Neck Road. Turn right onto Scrubby Neck Road, and follow it until you arrive at Long Point Wildlife Refuge. The ride should take approximately 30 minutes depending on your pace.

    Starting from Vineyard Haven, walk south on Main Street towards the waterfront. Continue onto Beach Road, which runs along the shoreline. After about a mile, you will reach the intersection with State Road. Cross State Road and continue onto Scrubby Neck Road. Follow Scrubby Neck Road for about a mile, and you will find the entrance to Long Point Wildlife Refuge on your left. The walk will take approximately 1 hour.
