    If you are in downtown Nantucket, you can rent a bicycle from one of the local rental shops. Once you have your bike, head southeast on Main Street towards the ferry terminal. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with Washington Street. Turn left onto Washington Street, which will take you out of the busy downtown area. Follow Washington Street as it curves into the Madaket Road. Continue on Madaket Road until you reach the fork at the intersection with Polpis Road. Keep right to stay on Madaket Road. After about 2 miles, you will see a sign for Katama Road. Turn right onto Katama Road and follow it for about 1.5 miles until you reach 555 Katama Rd, where you will find Katama Beach/South Beach on your left.

    To walk to Katama Beach from downtown Nantucket, start at the Visitor Center located at 25 Federal Street. Head south on Federal Street towards Main Street. Turn left onto Main Street and walk until you reach the intersection with Washington Street. Turn right onto Washington Street and continue straight. After approximately 1 mile, Washington Street will become Madaket Road. Keep walking straight for another 2 miles until you reach the fork with Polpis Road. Stay on Madaket Road, and after about 1.5 miles, you will see Katama Road. Turn right onto Katama Road and continue for another 1 mile. Katama Beach will be on your left at 555 Katama Rd.

    To reach Katama Beach using public transportation, find the Nantucket Regional Transit Authority (NRTA) bus stop near your location. You can take the 'Sankaty' or 'Surfside' route, which stops at various points in Nantucket. Ask the bus driver to let you know when you reach the stop for Katama Road. Once you get off, walk a short distance along Katama Road (about 0.5 miles) towards 555 Katama Rd, where you will arrive at Katama Beach/South Beach.
