Start at the New Bedford Whaling Museum, located at 18 Johnny Cake Hill. From there, head southeast on Johnny Cake Hill towards Union Street. Turn left onto Union Street and walk until you reach the intersection with Purchase Street. Turn right onto Purchase Street and continue straight until you reach the bus terminal. At the terminal, you can catch a bus heading to Newport, Rhode Island. Purchase your ticket and enjoy the scenic ride to Newport.

From downtown New Bedford, walk to the nearest bus stop on Purchase Street. Take the Peter Pan Bus Line towards Providence, which will take you to Newport. The journey takes approximately 40 minutes. Once you arrive at the Newport bus terminal, you can either walk or take a local bus to 54 Washington St, Newport, RI. If walking, head east on America's Cup Avenue, then take a left onto Washington Street until you reach the Hunter House.
