Getting There

• Car

  If you're traveling by car, start on Route 3 South from any location in South Shore. Continue on Route 3 until it merges with Route 93. Stay on Route 93 North and take exit 37A to merge onto Route 1A. Follow signs to Salem. Once in Salem, turn onto Essex St, and you will find Ropes Mansion and Garden at 318 Essex St, Salem, MA 01970. Keep an eye out for parking; there may be street parking available, but ensure to check for any parking regulations.

• Public Transportation - Train

  To reach Ropes Mansion and Garden using public transportation, take the MBTA Commuter Rail from a nearby station in South Shore (like Braintree) to the Salem Station on the Newburyport/Rockport Line. Once you arrive at Salem Station, exit the station and walk north on Washington St. Turn right onto Essex St, and continue walking for about 10 minutes. Ropes Mansion and Garden will be on your left at 318 Essex St. Train tickets can be purchased at the station or via the MBTA app, with costs varying based on your starting point.

• Public Transportation - Bus

  You can also take the MBTA bus service. Check the schedule for the 450 or 451 buses that run from various locations in South Shore to Salem. Once you arrive at the Salem bus terminal, exit and head west on Washington St. Turn right onto Essex St, and Ropes Mansion and Garden will be approximately a 10-minute walk from the bus terminal. Bus fares can be paid in cash or via a CharlieCard, costing around $2.00.
