L Street Tavern: A South Boston Gem

Getting There

• Walking

  From the center of Lowell, head south on Merrimack Street toward the intersection with Central Street. Turn left onto Central Street and continue for about 0.5 miles. At the intersection with Market Street, turn right and follow Market Street until you reach the Lowell Connector. Walk along the Connector for about 0.3 miles until you reach the nearest bus stop. Take the MBTA bus #1 toward Boston. Stay on the bus for approximately 30 minutes, and get off at the 'L Street' stop in South Boston. From there, walk east on E 8th Street for about 0.2 miles to reach L Street Tavern at 658 E 8th St.

• Public Transit

  From downtown Lowell, take the MBTA Commuter Rail from Lowell Station on the Lowell Line toward Boston. The train ride will take about 40 minutes. Disembark at South Station. Once at South Station, transfer to the Red Line subway heading towards Braintree. Get off at Broadway Station. From Broadway Station, exit onto Broadway Street and walk east toward E 8th Street. Turn right on E 8th Street and walk for about 0.3 miles to reach L Street Tavern at 658 E 8th St.
