From Waltham, make your way to the nearest bus stop that services the MBTA. Take the #70 or #70A bus towards Alewife Station. The ride will take approximately 30 minutes. Get off at Alewife Station and transfer to the Alewife subway line (Red Line). Ride the subway towards Ashmont/Braintree and get off at Park Street Station. From Park Street, transfer to the Green Line (E branch) and take the train towards Heath Street. Get off at the last stop, and walk to the Long Wharf ferry terminal. From there, take a ferry to Lovells Island. Make sure to check the ferry schedule as it may vary.

If you're near the Waltham Common, walk to the Waltham MBTA Train Station (approximately 15 minutes). Take the commuter rail towards South Station. Once at South Station, exit and follow signs to the Red Line subway. Take the Red Line towards Alewife and get off at Park Street Station. From Park Street, transfer to the Green Line (E branch) towards Heath Street. Get off at the last stop and walk to Long Wharf ferry terminal. From there, catch a ferry to Lovells Island.
