Car
If you are driving, start from the nearest town, which is San Cristóbal de las Casas. Head south on the Carretera Federal 190 (Calle 20 de Noviembre) and follow the signs for Ocosingo. After about 1.5 hours, turn left onto the Carretera Federal 199 towards Las Margaritas. Continue on this road for approximately 30 km. Look for signs indicating Cascada El Chiflón. The entrance to the waterfall park is well-marked, and you will need to pay an entrance fee, usually around 50 MXN per person.
Public Transportation
To reach Cascada El Chiflón via public transportation, take a bus from San Cristóbal de las Casas to Ocosingo. Buses leave frequently from the main bus terminal. The journey takes about 1.5 hours. Once in Ocosingo, transfer to a local bus or taxi that goes towards Las Margaritas. Inform the driver that you want to go to Cascada El Chiflón. The local bus may take about 30 minutes, and there will be an additional entrance fee of around 50 MXN per person at the waterfall park.
Taxi
If you prefer a more direct route, you can hire a taxi from San Cristóbal de las Casas to take you to Cascada El Chiflón. This option is more expensive, typically costing between 800 to 1000 MXN one way, but it provides convenience as the taxi will take you directly to the entrance of the waterfall park. Ensure to negotiate the fare in advance and confirm that the taxi driver knows the location.
