Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car, you will want to start from the nearest town, which is Lacanja. From Lacanja, head south on the main road. After approximately 10 kilometers, look for a sign indicating a turn to a dirt road that leads toward the Miramar area, which is also marked with local signs. The final stretch may involve navigating through unpaved trails, so ensure your vehicle is suitable for rough terrain. Keep in mind that this area is remote, and you may not have cell service; having a physical map can be helpful.

• Public Transportation

  To reach Miramar via public transportation, you can take a bus from Palenque to Lacanja. Buses leave regularly, and the fare is typically around 50 MXN. Once in Lacanja, you may need to hire a local taxi or a shared van to take you to the entrance of the trails leading to Miramar. Expect to pay around 100-200 MXN for this short trip. From the drop-off point, you will likely have to walk approximately 3 kilometers through the jungle to reach Miramar. Ensure you have proper footwear and carry enough water for the hike.

• Hiking

  If you are already in the Lacandon Jungle and prefer a more immersive experience, you can hike to Miramar. Depending on your starting point, you may have to navigate through various trails.
