If you are in the central area of San Miguel de Allende, start at the main square, El Jardín. From there, head east on Calle Norte, passing by the Parroquia de San Miguel Arcángel. Continue straight until you reach Calle San Francisco, then turn left. Walk until you arrive at the intersection with Calle Paloma. Turn right onto Calle Paloma and walk straight until you reach the entrance of Charco del Ingenio, which will be on your left. The total walk is about 20-30 minutes.
