From anywhere in Tulum, head to the main avenue, Avenida Tulum. Look for a collective taxi stand, which are shared vans that operate on a fixed route. Ask the driver to take you to Akumal. The ride will take approximately 30-40 minutes and costs around 50-70 pesos. Make sure to tell the driver to drop you off at the nearest point to the Akumal Monkey Sanctuary.

Bicycle Rental
If you're feeling adventurous, you can rent a bicycle from one of the many rental shops in Tulum. Head east on Avenida Tulum until you reach the Tulum-Cobá Road (Carretera Tulum-Cobá). Turn right and continue on this road for about 20 kilometers. You will pass through the town of Akumal. Look out for signs directing you to the Akumal Monkey Sanctuary, which is located on Camino a Uxuxubi. The ride will take approximately 1.5 to 2 hours.
