Getting There

  If you are driving from Cancún, take Highway 180 towards Tulum. Continue on this road until you reach the intersection with Highway 307. At this point, turn right onto Highway 307 and head towards Felipe Carrillo Puerto. After approximately 45 km, you will reach the town of Felipe Carrillo Puerto. From there, turn onto the road leading towards the coastal village of Punta Allen, which will eventually take you to Cabo Catoche. Be prepared for some unpaved roads as you approach Cabo Catoche; a 4x4 vehicle is recommended. The entire drive takes about 3 to 4 hours depending on traffic and road conditions.

  To reach Cabo Catoche by public transportation, start by taking a bus from Cancún to Felipe Carrillo Puerto. Buses depart regularly from the ADO bus terminal in Cancún; the trip takes around 2.5 to 3 hours and costs approximately $150-200 MXN. Once in Felipe Carrillo Puerto, you will need to find a local taxi or colectivo (shared taxi) that goes towards Punta Allen. It is advisable to negotiate the fare in advance as this can vary.
