From downtown Ann Arbor, you can take the AATA (Ann Arbor Area Transportation Authority) bus. Board the #36 (Dixboro Rd) bus at the stop near the Blake Transit Center (located at 327 Blaine St). The bus runs regularly, so check the schedule for exact times. Stay on the bus for approximately 25 minutes, and get off at the 'Dixboro Rd & Matthaei Botanical Gardens' stop. Walk a short distance to the entrance at 1800 N Dixboro Rd.
Bicycle
If you prefer biking, you can rent a bike from one of the local bike-sharing services or use your own. Start from downtown Ann Arbor and head east on Huron St. Continue until you reach the intersection with Washtenaw Ave. Turn left onto Washtenaw Ave and ride for about 2 miles. At the intersection with Dixboro Rd, turn right. Matthaei Botanical Gardens will be on your right after about 1 mile.
Walking
For those feeling adventurous, walking to Matthaei Botanical Gardens is an option! From the University of Michigan campus, head east on South University Ave until it becomes Washtenaw Ave. Continue on Washtenaw Ave for approximately 2.5 miles. When you reach Dixboro Rd, turn right and continue for another mile. The gardens will be on your right side at 1800 N Dixboro Rd. This walk is around 4 miles and may take about 1.5 hours.
