Historic Mill Creek: A Journey Through Time

Getting There

• Bicycle

  From the main ferry dock in Mackinac Island, rent a bicycle from one of the nearby rental shops. Head west on Main Street until you reach the intersection with Cadotte Avenue. Turn left onto Cadotte Avenue and continue until you reach the intersection with British Lane. Make a right turn onto British Lane and follow it until you arrive at the edge of the island. You will pass through beautiful scenery, including views of the waterfront. Once you reach the western edge of the island, you will find a trail that leads toward Historic Mill Creek. Follow the signs for Historic Mill Creek Discovery Park, and it will take you directly to your destination.

• Horse-drawn carriage

  At the ferry dock, look for the horse-drawn carriage services available for tourists. Purchase a ticket for a ride to Historic Mill Creek. The carriage will take you along scenic routes through the island while a driver provides information about the sights. Let the driver know you want to go to Historic Mill Creek, and they will ensure that you are dropped off at the entrance to the park.

• Walking

  If you prefer to walk, start from the main ferry dock and head west on Main Street. Continue along Main Street until you reach the intersection with Cadotte Avenue. Turn left onto Cadotte Avenue and follow it until you reach British Lane. Make a right onto British Lane. After a short walk, you will find a pathway that leads toward Historic Mill Creek. It is about a 30-40 minute walk, so wear comfortable shoes and enjoy the picturesque views along the way.
