Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car, the main access point to Sleeping Bear Dunes is via M-22. From Glen Arbor, head south on M-22. After about 5 miles, you will reach the entrance to the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. Parking is available at various locations within the park. Please be aware that there is an entrance fee of $25 per vehicle, which is valid for up to 7 days.

• Public Transportation

  While public transportation options are limited, you can take the Leelanau Transit bus service if you are coming from nearby towns like Traverse City or Suttons Bay. Check their schedule for routes that stop in Glen Arbor. Once you arrive in Glen Arbor, you can walk or bike to the park entrance, which is approximately 1 mile away from the town center.

• Bicycle

  If you prefer biking, there are bike paths available in and around Glen Arbor. You can rent bikes from local shops and ride to the park entrance. The scenic ride along M-22 offers breathtaking views of the lake and surrounding landscapes. Ensure you wear a helmet and follow all traffic regulations.

• Walking

  For those staying in Glen Arbor, walking to the park entrance is a viable option. Follow Lake Street south until it intersects with M-22, then continue to the park entrance. The distance is approximately 1 mile and provides a pleasant stroll through the town.
