Getting There

  • Bus

    From downtown Minneapolis, head to the nearest bus stop and catch Metro Transit bus route 54 heading east. Stay on the bus for about 30 minutes until you reach the stop at Fort Snelling (Tower Ave). After getting off, walk about 5 minutes towards the fort, following the signs that guide you to the entrance.

  • Light Rail

    If you are near the Nicollet Mall or downtown area, take the Metro Blue Line light rail from the Nicollet Mall station towards the airport. Get off at the Fort Snelling station. From there, it's about a 15-minute walk to Historic Fort Snelling. Follow the signs to Tower Avenue, and you'll find the entrance to the fort.

  • Bicycle

    Minneapolis has a great network of bike paths. If you are near the Midtown Greenway, take it west until you reach the Mississippi River. Then follow the river north to Fort Snelling.
