From downtown New Orleans, take I-10 E toward Slidell. Continue on I-10 E for about 10 miles. Take exit 240B for Chef Menteur Hwy, and merge onto Chef Menteur Hwy. Continue on Chef Menteur Hwy for approximately 8 miles. The Bayou Sauvage Urban National Wildlife Refuge will be on your left at 17160 Chef Menteur Hwy.

From downtown New Orleans, take the #39 bus (Algiers) from the Canal and St. Charles stop toward the St. Bernard/Canal stop. Transfer to the #88 bus (Chef Menteur) at St. Bernard and Chef Menteur. Stay on the #88 bus for about 30 minutes. Get off at the stop closest to 17160 Chef Menteur Hwy. Walk approximately 5 minutes to the refuge entrance.
