The Pushkin Monument in Bender stands as a tribute to Alexander Pushkin, one of Russia's most influential poets. He visited Bender in 1821 and 1824 during his exile in the southern Russian Empire. During his time in Bender, Pushkin was interested in the history of King Charles XII of Sweden's stay and the grave of Hetman Mazepa.The monument was inaugurated on June 5, 1980, marking the 160th anniversary of Pushkin's first visit to Bender. Today, the monument is located on one of the central streets of Bender, also named after the poet. Nearby, Gymnasium No. 2 and the central library also carry Pushkin's name, highlighting the enduring cultural impact of the poet on the city.The statue depicts Pushkin in a contemplative pose, set against a backdrop of greenery, creating a serene atmosphere.
