The Monument to Russian Glory, located in Bender, Moldova, stands as a powerful reminder of the region's history and the enduring spirit of its people. Inaugurated in 1912, the monument celebrated the centenary of the victory in the Patriotic War of 1812 and the inclusion of Bessarabia into Russia. Funds for the monument were collected by soldiers and officers of the 55th Podolsk Infantry Regiment.The monument is an obelisk made of gray labradorite, topped with a bronze eagle. One side of the obelisk bears the inscription: “To valiant ancestors from descendants. From the 55th Podolsk Infantry Regiment. 1912”. The reverse side commemorates the feats of soldiers of the 55th Podolsk Infantry Regiment in the Patriotic War of 1812.Originally located in the Bender Fortress near the Alexander Nevsky Military Church, the monument was moved to Panina Street during Soviet times. Today, it is a popular spot for locals and tourists, providing a glimpse into the historical significance of the region. The surrounding area allows visitors to explore local culture, with shops and eateries offering traditional Moldovan cuisine.
