Cathedral Park, also known as Cathedral Square, is a historical and cultural landmark in the heart of Chișinău. Established between 1830 and 1840, its creation coincided with the construction of the Nativity Cathedral. The park has served as a focal point for major national and religious celebrations. Over the years, Cathedral Park has undergone several transformations. It suffered significant damage during World War II and was subsequently restored, even being named Victory Park for a time. In 1962, during the Soviet era, the Bell Tower was demolished, and a fountain was erected in its place. However, in 1998, the Bell Tower was reconstructed based on historical images, reclaiming its position within the architectural ensemble. Today, Cathedral Park covers 9 hectares and is home to many old trees and decorative plants. The park's main area is a large open space surrounded by tree-lined paths, offering shade for visitors. The Metropolitan Cathedral, along with the Belfry and the Triumphal Arch, forms an iconic historical ensemble in the capital.
