Originally known as the Victory Memorial during the Soviet era, it was inaugurated on May 9, 1975, marking the 30th anniversary of the Soviet Union's victory in World War II. The complex was built on the site of three old cemeteries: Lutheran, Orthodox, and Lipovan. These bayonets, crafted from black and red granite, are engraved with the years 1941-1945. At the center of the monument, an eternal flame burns continuously, honoring the fallen heroes. The complex also includes a commemorative stone representing a stone flower and the star of soldiers originating from Moldova, with the names of Moldovan soldiers who died during World War II engraved upon it. Other notable elements include a symbolic belfry, a bronze crown inscribed with “We didn't forget you,” and a black cross marking the graves of fallen German soldiers. A monument to the “Grieving Mother,” dedicated to those who died in Moldova's 1991-1992 War of Independence, also stands within the complex. The changing of the guard by the Moldovan Army occurs hourly, adding to the solemn atmosphere. The site is a place where citizens visit with flowers to pay tribute to the fallen soldiers.
