Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car in Orkhon Valley, start from the town of Kharkhorin, which is the closest major settlement. From Kharkhorin, head southeast on the main road (Nuyun Road) for about 25 kilometers until you reach the junction. At the junction, turn left onto Bat-Ulzii Road. Continue along Bat-Ulzii Road for approximately 15 kilometers. You will see signs indicating the Uurtiin Tokhoi Cliff area. Look for a parking area where you can safely leave your car. From the parking area, it’s just a short walk to the cliff where you can enjoy the views.

• Public Transportation

  To reach Uurtiin Tokhoi Cliff via public transportation, you can take a shared minibus (known locally as a 'microbus') from Kharkhorin to Bat-Ulzii. The microbuses usually depart from the central bus station in Kharkhorin, and the fare is typically around 2,000 MNT (Mongolian Tugrik). The journey takes about 30-40 minutes. Once you arrive at Bat-Ulzii, you may need to hire a local taxi or arrange for a ride to the Uurtiin Tokhoi Cliff. Expect to negotiate the taxi fare, which should be around 10,000-15,000 MNT for the short trip. After reaching the drop-off point, it’s a brief walk to the cliff.

• Bicycle

  For those adventurous enough to cycle, you can rent a bicycle in Kharkhorin. Follow the same route as the cars, starting on Nuyun Road. After approximately 25 kilometers, turn left onto Bat-Ulzii Road and continue cycling for another 15 kilometers. Be prepared for some hilly terrain, and ensure you have enough water and supplies for the ride. The scenic views along the way will make the effort worthwhile.
