Car
If you are traveling by car, start from the nearest major town in the Zavkhan River Valley, such as Uliastai. From Uliastai, head southeast on the road towards Ovorkhangai. Continue on this road for approximately 200 km until you reach the turn-off to Tövhön Hiid, which is marked by a small sign. Turn left and follow the dirt road for about 10 km until you reach the monastery. The road can be rough, so a 4x4 vehicle is recommended.
Public Transportation
To reach Tövhön Hiid via public transportation, take a bus from Uliastai to Ovorkhangai. Buses run regularly and the journey takes about 3-4 hours. Upon arrival in Ovorkhangai, you will need to hire a taxi or arrange for a local driver to take you to Tövhön Hiid, which is about 30 km away. Taxi fares can vary, but expect to pay around 20,000 to 30,000 MNT (Mongolian Tugrik) for this short trip.
Hiking
For the adventurous, consider hiking to Tövhön Hiid. If you are based in Ovorkhangai, you can start your hike from the nearest village. Make sure to plan your route in advance and carry sufficient supplies, as the trail can be challenging. The hike can take several hours depending on your pace and the exact starting point.
