Getting There

    Start at downtown Billings, where you can catch the MET Transit bus at the MET transfer center located at 2825 1st Ave N. Take the bus number 5 (Heights Route) towards the Heights. It will take you around 20-30 minutes to reach your destination. Ask the driver to alert you when you get close to Lake Elmo State Park. Once you arrive at the stop nearest to the park, you will need to walk approximately 0.5 miles to the park entrance.

  • Biking

    If you prefer to bike, start at the Billings City Park located at 2100 Bench Blvd. Head east on Bench Blvd until you reach the intersection with South Billings Blvd. Turn left onto South Billings Blvd and continue straight until you reach the intersection with Lake Elmo Drive. Turn right onto Lake Elmo Drive and follow it directly to Lake Elmo State Park. The entire route is approximately 4 miles and should take about 20-30 minutes depending on your pace.

    For those who wish to walk, begin at the Billings Depot located at 2310 Montana Ave. Head east on Montana Ave for approximately 1 mile until you reach 27th St N. Turn left on 27th St N and walk north until you reach the intersection with Lake Elmo Drive. Turn right onto Lake Elmo Drive and follow it for another mile until you arrive at Lake Elmo State Park. This walk is about 2.5 miles and will take roughly 50 minutes to an hour.
