Start your journey at the Missoula Downtown Transfer Center located at 1200 W Broadway St. From there, take the Mountain Line bus route #5 towards the 'University of Montana'. After approximately 15 minutes, get off at the 'South Avenue & 39th Street' stop. From this stop, you will need to walk southeast on South Avenue for about 0.5 miles until you reach the intersection with Pattee Canyon Drive. Continue straight onto Pattee Canyon Drive, which will lead you directly to the Pattee Canyon Recreation Area entrance.

If you're cycling, start at Missoula’s downtown area and head east on East Broadway Street. After crossing the river, take a left onto South Avenue and follow it until you reach Pattee Canyon Drive. Turn right onto Pattee Canyon Drive and continue uphill. You'll find the entrance to Pattee Canyon Recreation Area after approximately 1.5 miles of cycling. Be cautious, as the road may have some steep sections.

For those who prefer to walk, begin at the Missoula Downtown area. Head towards East Broadway Street and continue east until you reach South Avenue. Turn left onto South Avenue and walk for about 1 mile until you reach the intersection with Pattee Canyon Drive. Turn right onto Pattee Canyon Drive and walk for about 1.5 miles. Keep an eye out for the Pattee Canyon Recreation Area sign. The route is scenic, but be prepared for some elevation gain as you approach the area.
