Getting There

Walking
From the Old Town of Budva, head towards the main entrance of the citadel, which is located near the sea. Once you exit the Old Town, follow the coastal promenade (known as the 'Lungo Mare') towards the northwest. Continue along the promenade for about 10 minutes, enjoying the beautiful views of the Adriatic Sea. Keep an eye out for signs pointing towards the St. John Fortress. As you approach the fortress area, you'll see a path leading up to the fort on your right. Follow this path, which will take you uphill. The path is well-marked, and you will eventually reach the entrance of St. John Fortress.

Taxi
If you prefer not to walk, you can take a taxi from anywhere in Budva. Simply tell the driver you want to go to 'St. John Fortress' or 'Fort of St. Ivan'. Most taxi drivers are familiar with the location. The taxi will drop you off at the base of the fortress path. From there, you will need to walk up the path to reach the fortress entrance, which is just a short uphill walk.
